Strategic Partnerships

The Gary and Apolonia Stice ’Ohana supports community education and economic development across the Hawaiian Islands. We partner with the following foundations to assist their innovate projects towards a better Hawai’i:

Waiohinu Cultural Center

The vision for the Waiohinu Cultural Center was developed by lifelong residents of the community. Located in Ka’ū on Hawai’i Island, the cultural center will be steered by Kaʻū natives to preserve the Native Hawaiian culture, and support the economic goals of the area. This project includes a series of traditional structures to house traditional arts, practices, and ’ike kūpuna (ancestral knowledge). With the support of Ka’ū-based non-profits, the Gary and Apolonia Stice ’Ohana seeks to realize this vision.

Kāhea mai ka Āina Academy

In partnership with local educators, the Waiohinu Cultural Center will also be the space for the Kahea mai ka ’Āina Academy, a project by Hana Laulima Lāhui o Ka’ū. For ten years, Hana Laulima Lāhui o Ka’ū has offered the Native Hawaiian culture camps for youth from ages 6-18. This program aims to engage learners in knowing Ka’ū, their Native Hawaiian culture, and how to become self-sufficient. During these camps, participants learn about Ka’ū-based culture and environmental practices.
